List of League Cup Winners: Liverpool 2024 Carabao Cup Champions

English Football League history: Carabao Cup Final Winners List,  Past EFL Cup Champions since 1961.

  • — Virgil van Dijk headed Liverpool to a record-extending 10th English League Cup trophy by securing a 1-0 win against Chelsea at Wembley on Sunday.
  • The center back's header in the 28th minute of extra time settled a tense clash that had ended 0-0 in regulation.

Liverpool claimed the record historic league cup trophy for 10th time victory over Chelsea..

It clinched an eighth piece of major silverware for Jurgen Klopp and ensured the Liverpool manager will not end his final season at the club empty-handed.

Klopp will step down at the end of the season, but victory in the League Cup has kept his team on course for an improbable quadruple of trophies.

Now Liverpool is the ONLY team on winners table of English Football League Cup history to won the 10th titles since EFL inaugural season was by Aston Villa over Rotherham in 1961.

  – Only Liverpool has clinched the most titles of Football League cup (known as Carabao Cup, or EFL Cup), 10th-time Carabao Cup title winners behind Manchester City.

As far back as the making of the League Cup as it is truly known, 52 years prior, dramatization has been at its heart. Numerous finals have delivered the most improbable of results, with as far as anyone knows no-trust minnows conquering the chances on top-flight goliaths.

In 1961, Aston Villa - the inaugural League Cup champs - lifted the notorious trophy for the very first time.

The first trophy was commissioned and paid for by then EFL president Joe Richards, who had his name engraved on the prize. Richards' help for Football League secretary Alan Hardaker, the man credited with first proposing the League Cup, by the creation of the trophy is viewed as major in conveying the League Cup to fulfillment.

Who Won the Last Year EFL league cup, 2023 Carabao Cup Champions.?

Manchester United have won their first trophy under Erik ten Hag thanks to a 2-0 win over Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final.

First half goals from Casemiro and Marcus Rashford were enough for the Red Devils at Wembley Stadium, besting a Newcastle side who were competing in their first cup final this century.

It was their first piece of silverware since they won the Europa League under Jose Mourinho in 2017.

Liverpool have won the League Cup 2022 for the ninth time in their history; now an outright record, surpassing Manchester City.

Who won the 2024 League Cup.? Current Carabao Cup Final Champion.?

Liverpool were crowned the 2024 Carabao Cup winners after Reds captain Virgil van Dijk netted a dramatic match-winner in extra-time at Wembley to run out 1-0 victors at the home of football.

The Reds – who have won the competition more than any other team – broke into double figures as they lifted the trophy for a record 10th time, two years on from their last triumph against the same opponent in 2022.

Liverpool achieved their 10th title of English League Cup without some injured stars, including forward trio Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota, also losing Ryan Gravenberch when he was taken off on a stretcher after Moises Caicedo's first-half challenge.
