Becoming the 22nd driver, champions of the Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals 2022, Nevada’s Tanner Thorson wheeled the Reinbold/Underwood Motorsports No. 19t to Victory Lane on Saturday night.
It’s the first Chili Bowl victory for Thorson, an ace driver who previously competed in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.

Top by bottom just past Lap 25, traffic was again in the mix until Lap 36 when Justin Grant biked the cushion and tipped over in the second turn.

It took 13-years for Kyle Larson to win the 35th Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals presented by General Tire, but it only took one to add a second Golden Driller to his trophy case as the California shoe led start to finish in Saturday’s 55-lap championship event.
Larson had to fend off the charge of Justin Grant numerous times and Christopher Bell in the closing laps.
The 2021 Chili Bowl Rookie of the Year was Oklahoma’s Daison Pursley with a 10th place finish in the first Dave.com B-Feature.

Tanner Thorson, out of Minden, Nevada came home with his first career Chili Bowl Nationals victory on Saturday night at the SageNet Center.
It came while battling around the last three Chili Bowl winners and the USAC Midget champion, too.

The Reinbold-Underwood Motorsports driver was able to get by Christopher Bell, who paced the first 30 laps of the race until Thorson made his move.

The A-Main feature is a 55 lap event (the A-main was previously a 50 lap event but was changed in 2012, in honor of fallen driver Donnie Ray Crawford).
