Billy Horschel came out on top of the WGC field of 64 with a 2 and 1 victory over Scottie Scheffler in the final of the 2021 WGC-Dell Match Play .

The win was Horschel's sixth on the PGA Tour and his first World Golf Championship.

Horschel came into this tournament 0-of-4 in advancing to the weekend rounds in Match Play, while Scheffler, the 2020 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year, was in his first appearance overall.

  • WGC-Dell Match Play Championship match play is the annual World Golf Championship, a match play knockout system event. It is held every at the end of February through 2014, later in 2015 it is moved in the first week of May & in 2016 moved to Austin, Texas last week of March.
  • The first WGC Match Play Championship was inaugurated in 1991 & it is won by Jeff Maggert & receive $1 million prize money. 
  • In the format of WGC-Dell Match Play, top 64 players from World Gold ranking are chosen. 
  •  Currently, Total purse for 2022 WGC-Dell Match Play championship is $12 million while the winner share is $1.2 million & runner-up grab 1.320 M payout. 
  • From 1991 to 2014 it is a knockout system (win-loss). From 2015 the event starts with pool play 16 groups with 4 players each play round-robin matches on Wednesday, the winners of each group qualify for R-16, and 8 players qualify for the quarterfinal, & then 4 set for the Semifinal & Two for Final on Sunday. 
  • The WGC Match Play championship match was originally 36 holes (1999–2010); 18 holes since 2011.
  • Tiger Woods has won the most titles of WGC match play championship 3 times, & also won the most matches in the championship are 13th. 
  • WGC Dell Technologies Match Play Championship 2018 champion-winner is Bubba Watson and Hold the $ 1, 7000, 000 in Winners prize share.
