 The two legendary Khan’s are the most decorated players in Squash history to have graced the Men’s World Squash Championship with Jansher Khan having eight to his name, whilst Jahangir Khan captured the title six times – and the pair are considered to be two of the greatest players ever to play the Squash Sport during the span of 16 years dominance and won all world titles between 1981 and 1996 except two times.

Australian legend Geoff Hunt took the first men’s World Championship title after he beat Pakistan’s Mohibullah Khan in final and he won all four events from its Inauguration 1976 to 1980.


 That same year, the women’s World Championship also began in 1976, when the iconic Heather McKay lifted the first of her two titles, beating Marion Jackman on home soil in Australia.

 Australia dominated the women’s squash event over the decade, Michelle Martin’s triumph in 1993-1995 brings the three title wins), Sarah Fitz-Gerald won 5 titles and Carol Owens (1) in nine of the ten tournaments held between 1993-2002.

 Over the next 10 years, the legendary Malaysian Nicol David made her dominance on the Squash Sport, claiming her maiden World Championship title in Hong Kong in 2005 courtesy and won the Eight titles out of Ten played during 2005-2015.

 But Now Egyptian great El Sherbini got her hands on the squash sport’s, when she battled over the 2013 winners Laura Massaros to clinched the 2015 title to become the youngest ever Women’s World Champion at the age of 20 – eclipsing the record set by Four-time champions Devoy 31 years earlier.

Since 2015, El Sherbini has made her mark on the tournament with SIX titles in hand, also sealing the 2016, 2018-19  and 2019-22 editions, four consecutives titles, in his most recent finals 2022 when she beat rival compatriots & country-fellow Nouran Ghour at the home soil.

The World Open Squash Championship is a individuals Squash unit organized by
Professional Squash Association (PSA). There are two main prestigious tournaments in Squash-Sport are Squash British Open, Squash World Open.

The first Men's and Women's World Squash Championship is held in 1976.

The Most Winning titles in the PSA Men's World Squash Championship is Jansher Khan (Pakistan) 8th titles followed by Jahagir Khan (Pak) 6th titles & Amr Shabana (Egyp) with 4 title champions.

The biggest names in World Squash Winners have also lifted the illustrious title more than once, with Amr Shabana (4), Ramy Ashour and Nick Matthew (3), David Palmer (2).


In Women's category, the Most Winning titles of PSA Women's World Squash Championship is Nicol David (Malaysia) with 8 titles followed by Nour El Sherbini (EGY) Six-time champions & Sarah Fitz-Gerald (AUS) with 5 times winners.

The other Notable names in women's champions are Michelle Martin (4), Susan Devoy 4 times.

The most recent in Women's Squash Egyptian Nour El Sherbini has won the Six titles out of Last Seven Squash Championships.
