The Africa Cup of Nations is also known as "African Cup of nation" or "AFCON".

Its French words"Coupe d'Afrique des Nations".

This tournament is played under the supervision of continental organization Confederation of African Football (CAF).

The first of Africa Cup of Nations was held in Sudan & the first AFCON winner is Egypt who beats the Sudan on 1957.

Since 1968 the Africa Cup of Nations has been held after every 2 years.

Currently, the 35st edition of the African Cup of Nations 2024 (#AFCON2025) will be held in Morocco.

In the 1st unit of Africa Cup of Nations were only three national teams, Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia.

The number of teams was reached till 16 in 1998 & Next in 2023 Ivory Coast 24 teams is playing.

The most successful team in Africa Cup of Nations is Egypt, who won the most AFCON titles with 7 times in the Full list of AFCON winners..

Ivory Coast's success sees them add this year's title to those claimed in 1992 and 2015, while this win also allows them to join Nigeria on three Cup of Nations triumphs overall.

When & where is the next AFCON 2025: African Cup of Nations fixtures, schedule dates.



The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations is scheduled to be the 34th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations, will be hosted by the Ivory Coast, the second time the country would host the AFCON Cup.


The next Africa Cup of Nations is in 2025 and will take place in Morocco.

It will be the second time the north African nation has staged the finals. They first hosted the AFCON in 1988 and were scheduled to do so again in 2015, but the tournament had to be relocated to Equatorial Guinea due to the Ebola virus outbreak.


The 2025 tournament was initially slated to take place in June and July, 2025.

However, the scheduling is now uncertain due to the FIFA Club World Cup revamped competition will be staged in the United States from June 15 to July 13, 2025.
